Эссе на английском языке по теме FAMILY

Some people prefer to have big families, but the others come to nothing more than only one child.

Family is a basic constituent of any nation. The well-being of the nation depends on the well-being of each family. A lot of factors make a family happy, and children are among of them. But how many children does a family need to be perfectly happy?

In my opinion, parents should have three children. I consider it to be the optimum number of kids. Firstly, in this case parents contribute to population growth in the country. The demographic depression is really the case of many countries. Secondly, the children grown not all alone are more sociable and less egoistic. Thirdly, a child from a big family has a better chance to succeed in life because his siblings are willing to help.

There is no doubt that big families have their disadvantages as well. In the first place, it is worth mentioning that big families are noisy. It’s pretty hard to find peace and quiet. In this respect, small families receive a benefit. In addition to it, the more children you have, the more conflicts you get. Your children may have vastly different interests. For example, some want to read a book and others switch on the television at the same time. However that may be, loneliness is much worse than conflicts of interests. If parents learn their children how to get along with each other critical moments will be avoided.

To sum it up, it goes without saying that a big family is good. But, you must regard things in a sober light. It would be sensible to assess the suitability for having children first. If you have enough time, patience, wisdom, and money, don’t hesitate to give birth to children.

Эссе на английском языке по теме LANGUAGES

Nowadays, being an interpreter is one of the most prestigious occupations. A lot of young people dream of becoming an interpreter, that’s why they study foreign languages very actively. Many of them achieve a good level of competence.

But, in my opinion, not everyone who has learned a foreign language can work as an interpreter. Firstly, an interpreter should not only be an expert in languages, but also have a thorough knowledge of other aspects of life. His work is not confined only to one subject. The work of interpreters is unpredictable. For example, they work at a motor show on one day and take part at a socio-political forum on the other one. Interpreters should know everything in general outline and command a large vocabulary. Secondly, in addition to intellectual facilities, the psyche of an interpreter should be very stable. As is often the case, interpreters work in hospitals. Here they see blood, pain, and suffering. If they can’t stand it all, they will hardly do their job well. Besides, the psyche of interpreters must be very flexible when the matter concerns a simultaneous translation. Interpreters should control several simultaneous processes: listening, comprehension, putting the information into a target language. Great mastery is required of interpreters in this kind of work. Thirdly, I think, interpreters should be physically strong to work under much stress. For example, they must endure foreign climate of both tropical and northern countries.

However, there are people who consider just speaking a foreign language to be enough for the work of an interpreter. They guess that it is the language that is the hardest thing to master. But I don’t share their point of view. Learning a foreign language can be easy if properly done. But having specific abilities required in interpreting is not a sure thing.

To sum it up, if you want to be an interpreter you’d better concentrate on both learning a foreign language and becoming a comprehensively developed person.

Эссе на английском языке по теме ENVIRONMENT

Well-developed industry ensures the well-being of the whole country and its citizens. But industrial growth is often followed by aggravation of environmental problems.

Industrial development plays a large role in prosperity of any country. I doubt whether the country could do without leading industries, such as: heavy and light industry, power engineering, extractive industry, heavy engineering, chemical industry, etc. Very often the welfare of the whole city depends on stability and efficiency of one factory.

But such an intense development adversely affects the environment. For instance, oil production is one of the most important industries all over the world. Nowadays, it is difficult to imagine our life without oil. But its extraction results in terrible problems: ground depression in places of oil extraction, its pouring out into the great oceans. Air photography shows that one third of sea surface is covered with an oil slick causing mass destruction of sea fauna and birds.

In addition to oil production, chemical industry is another destructive factor. Chemical factories pollute air, water and soil. Tons of poisonous gases like carbon dioxide, nitric oxide, hydrocarbon are emitted every day.

No doubt mankind can’t help making industrial progress. But we should begin to think about prevention of disastrous damage our industrial flourishing does to our fragile nature. Factories should constantly improve their cleaning machinery to lessen toxicity of their emissions.

Эссе на английском языке по теме SPORT

As is well known, going in for sport is extremely health-giving. However, many professional athletes suffer from diseases caused by intense exercises.

Nice shape, great stamina, bulging muscles are the dreams of most people. These dreams may come true thanks to sport. Practice showed that strenuous activity is the most important stimulant of all the physiological functions of a man’s organism. This is a pledge of a successful development of mind and body. Regular exercises strengthen central nervous system, contribute to health and temper, making people strong-willed, purposeful, and active.

As any phenomenon of our life, sport has its reverse. It can do much harm to your health if using a wrong method. If a boy does exhaustive exercises every day trying to build up his muscles he just undermines his health, but not strengthens it. If a girl spares no effort to be fit doing everyday exercises she will hardly accomplish the purpose. Improper training will ruin your health.

To sum it up, there is no doubt that sport is healthy if reasonably done. If exercises are too much for you to bear they just kill you. But working out under instruction of a good coach is very wholesome.

Эссе на английском языке по теме FOOD

Fast food is perhaps the quickest way to satisfy your hunger. But according to many experts, fast food can cause serious illnesses: obesity, gastritis, indigestion, pancreatitis, etc.

You can hardly find a person who never heard about global fast food chains, such as McDonald’s, Subways, Burger King and so on. Nowadays, fast food industry is one of the most flourishing businesses all over the world. It comes as no surprise, fast food restaurants enjoy wide popularity among average people. It takes you just a few minutes to satisfy your hunger. At any time you have a good choice of magnificent burgers, chips of different tastes, delicious pizzas, and fizzy drinks. Popular music you can always hear in these restaurants makes you feel relaxed and happy. Many people take their children to these places.

But many nutritionists insist that you must not eat in fast food restaurants every day. The most forcible argument is that fast food contains lots of fat and preservatives and no healthy ingredients. Fast food producers use trans fat that keeps its freshness for a long time and prevents spoilage of food. Few people know that trans fat is very injurious to health. It is the cause of such diseases as myocardial ischemia, cancer, nervous disorder, sterility, diabetes.

What is more, in fast food restaurants we order a lot of fizzy drinks like Coke, Pepsi, Sprite and others. On the one hand, these drinks are very tasty, on the other hand, they are very unhealthy. For example, one little can of cola contains 10 teaspoons of sugar – a maximum dosage for one day. No wonder cola-lovers are so corpulent.

To sum it up, fast food is an easy solution for people on a busy day. But we should not eat it too much. Every time we drop into fast food restaurants we’d better order vegetable or fruit salads. And it goes without saying that one cup of green tea is much better that a can of cola. Food may heal or kill you. It’s up to you.

Эссе на английском языке по теме LOVE

Does love at first sight really exist? Is it a charming romantic fiction or a reality?

Love is a nice feeling that is the reason of durable family ties. If two persons love each other they are much more likely to reach mutual understanding and overcome the difficulties of life.

My opinion is sure not to sound romantic as I don’t believe in love at first sight. I am completely convinced that a spontaneous love doesn’t exist at all. Firstly, you can hardly discover the depth of your new friend’s heart at first sight. You need to enter long relations before you know each other well. It always takes time for a person to demonstrate his character. Secondly, love is tested by time. A pair of sweethearts should live together for a period to know each other from experience. The true love will help the couple to pass all the tests of life and prevent it from breaking up.

However, there are some people who consider the love at first sight to be real. They provide examples from belles-lettres or even from the real life. In my opinion, we should hold the examples from belles-lettres as artificially made-up since they are made-up indeed. As regards the real life examples, it may happen by a lucky chance.

To sum it up, belief in love at first sight is a sign of romantic and even immature attitude to life. Those who really believe in this kind of love will be bitterly disappointed in the course of time.

Эссе на английском языке по теме THE INTERNET

The Internet is one of the greatest inventions of mankind. Still, it is considered to be dangerous to many people.

Nowadays, almost every home has access to the Internet. We use the Internet for various purposes: gaining necessary information, taking part in communities, and even making money.

In my opinion, modern life can hardly be imagined without the world-wide web. The Internet can be helpful to everybody, including students. Firstly, students can use the Internet for learning purposes. I suppose that it is the strongest reason why they should get access to the Internet. Thousands websites place a mass of good information at the disposal of any person interested in mathematics, chemistry, foreign languages, etc. Many school teachers create special resources for their students. Secondly, the Internet offers a wide range of leisure opportunities. You can get in touch with your friends and send them e-mail messages, picture-cards, photos. You can make new friends from the whole world. The Internet offers a wonderful solution to the problem of loneliness.

Notwithstanding the advantages, the Internet implies serious risks. I think that dating websites pose a real risk to the teenagers. On the one hand, dating websites give you a chance to find a friend who you have much in common with. On the other hand, your new friend may turn out not to be a person you’d like to communicate with. What is more, it is quite possible that your new friend is a criminal. Such contacts may be very dangerous to you. Another grave disadvantage of the Internet is the presence of much information that can hurt your your psyche and even body. I mean pornography, publication of possible ways of suicide or buying and taking drugs.

In my opinion, the quality of information must be one of the top national priorities. It is necessary to pass laws to prevent harmful information from spreading. Much needs to be done to enforce the laws. Internet providers should have a concern in the quality of information being transmitted through their channels.

To sum it up, modern people are in great need of the Internet. But strong measures must be taken to protect them from bad information. If such measures are taken, the Internet will be safe.

Эссе на английском языке по теме CITY VS COUNTRY

More and more people are choosing to live in cities. But some people take up residence in the country.

Nowadays, there’s a tendency for active young people to leave rural areas for towns and cities. That is the reason why the population of the villages is thinning down now. Only senior people stay at their country homes because they cannot adapt themselves to the frenzied rhythm of the urban life.

In my opinion, living in a city is much more preferable to living in out-of-the-way rural places. Firstly, cities have more opportunities for self-actualization. Here you can make a career as an office worker, start your own business, or devote yourself to science. Secondly, cities have more recreational facilities: parks, museums, cinemas, sports centres, etc. Thirdly, it is much easier to make new friends and spend free time socializing.

However, cities have a big minus point making some people take up residence in the country. I mean environmental problems. As a rule, cities have big factories and industrial enterprises damaging the urban environment. This adversely affects people’s health causing serious diseases like cancer, asthma, and others. Nevertheless, you can stay healthy even in bad conditions if you have a regular prophylactic medical examination, keep to a diet, do regular exercise, and lead a moderate lifestyle.

To sum it up, no doubt cities have more plus points in comparison with villages. If you want to develop yourself and have the benefit of modern progress, you should definitely choose to live in cities.

Мой любимый автор.

My favorite writer is Ernest Hemingway. He will al-ways be remembered as a writer of prose in which every word had meaning and where nothing was wasted.

His style had, in fact, such a widespread effect on British and American literature that dozens of imitators appeared and today many novels are accused of being "pseudo-Hemingway".

The son of a small-town doctor, Hemingway was born in Illinois in 1898. He gained from his father an early love of fishing and shooting, interests which were to colour his life and work.

Hemingway was educated at schools in America and France. His father wanted him to be a doctor, but he became a newspaper reporter, and then served with the Italian Red Cross as an ambulance driver in World War 1.

Severely wounded in the fighting, Hemingway used this, as well as his boyhood experiences, as the material for his first books. In "A Farewell to Arms", "For Whome the Bell Tolls" and "The Old Man and the Sea" he wrote three classics of 20th century literature.

"A Farewell to Arms" is a powerful anti-war story, but it remains a love-story, telling of the ill-fated romance between Frederic Henry, a young American serving as a volunteer in the Italian army, and Catherine Barkley, a British nurse.

Frederic gradually decides to get out of the war and make a separate peace. He and his wife manage to get to neutral Switzerland where they are happy for a time. But the ending is tragic, for Catherine dies.

This novel shows Hemingway's hatred of the world that "kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially". It is very sad, but very interesting and very important. It is my favourite book

Библиотека нашего института.

Library is a temple of books" , -- somebody said. And I fully agree with these wise words. Every person in our country elder than 14 years old, I'm sure, was at least one time in the library. The majority of young people have subscriptions to the libraries they like.

The libraries not only give us a vast choice of books, but also offer excellent opportunities of having rest.

As you know, I study at the Far-Eastern State University, and I'm very proud that its library is thought to be the one of the largest in Primorye and even the whole Far-East.

Soon after our studies began, we had heard for a course of lectures about the university library. We were told about the rules of using books we take from the library and about its catalogues. Having listened to this course, we passed an examination that showed everything we had learnt.

Soon I had to visit our library the first time, as I needed a textbook on economics. I went downstairs (as library is situated in the ground floor) and found a room I was searching for. But I didn't get the immediately as it was many students. So I waited for my turn.

I asked to a librarian if I could get the book on economical theory. She answered affirmatively and soon brought me a book which name was "Modern economics" . Than the librarian asked me if it was for the first time I used the library's services. I answered that it was true, and she suggest me to receive reader's ticket. I was interested to know what documents I had to provide for this. She told that she needed only my photo 3x4 cm and some money. Fortunately, I had picture with myself and two minutes later I was the owner of reader's ticket, which proves that I am a real member of the university library.

So, that is my story about our library. By the way, I want to say you that I was greatly surprised the level of service in it. It was very pleasant to meet kind librarian that was eager to help in everything you ask.

Как я провел лето.

I think summer is the best season for rest because it is warm, the nature is beautiful and we have great opportunities for rest. Summer is a time of holidays. We can go for a walk all day long, watch the clouds, swim, sit down by a river or a lake on fresh, green grass, climb high hills, play different games, ride a bicycle and so on.

I spend my summer holidays at my granny. There were many things there to enjoy. I swam in the sea, lay in the sun and did many other things. Sometimes I made a fire with my friends at the seaside and cooked potatoes there. It was wonderful. We told anecdotes to each other, and did everything we wanted. I also got used to walk alone in the forest.

When the August was coming to the end, I went on a small voyage by ship. The ship name was "Olga Sadovskaya" .

But the last summer wasn't for me only sugar and honey. I have passed through the graduating exams in school and entering exams in the university and technical university. So the bigger part of my summer vocations I spent at the books. Of course, it was not interesting, but I'm glad that I did it because now I'm a student of the best university in Primorye and the whole Far-East.

Мой рабочий день.

I usually start my day with getting up and doing all things that everybody does in the morning: washing, having breakfast, etc. Also, I got used to gather my learning tools: pencils, exercise books, and textbooks in the morning. Then I usually go to the university.

Fortunately, father takes a car every morning and he often picks me up and drives me to the doors of our university building.

And soon the lectures and lessons begin... We have from 2 to 4 lectures every time, depending on day. I like studying in the university more than in the school because in university it is mostly allowed to miss some lectures (of course, later you should take a summary from your mate and copy it) . So, a student is much more free, than pupil is.

After the lessons I usually return home where I have dinner and start thinking about my ways of spending the rest of the day. Very often I go to my friend's places. During the early autumn and summer I often go to the sports ground or on the beach. I also like visiting different sports events, for example, soccer matches of "Luch" in Russian championship. So, the world is full of enjoyable things to do.

On returning home I usually start doing my homework (perhaps, it is the most dull part of the day) . Having finished it, I open a book and read it or watch TV. At last, I go to the bed.

Of course, I would like to tell you more about my working day, and myself but, unfortunately, my time is rather limited and I have got a lot of homework to do. Generally, now you know about my working day enough.

Технология в нашей жизни.

People can hardly imagine their lives without modern technologies nowadays. It is almost impossible to go out without a mobile phone or an MP3 player, for example. These devices have become an important part of our life. Moreover, almost every day either a new technology is being invented or an old one is being improved. To stay up-to-date people keep buying newer items. Soon our houses and work places will look like electronic stores. Technology is all around us. First of all, we need it for work. All modern offices are equipped with computers, scanners, printers, and other useful machines. One of the most important devices today is the wi-fi modem as it provides Internet. Secondly, technologies surround us at home, in cars and everywhere. It includes TVs, radios, refrigerators, vacuum-cleaners, washing machines, CD-players, e-books, cameras and else. Perhaps, the most important thing about technological progress is that it allows us to do many things which would be impossible without it. For example, we can communicate with friends from other countries with the help of computers. We can even see them and have a live conversation. There are many people who are against new technologies. In my opinion, technological progress has made our lives more interesting and bright. Thanks to computers and Internet I find more educational resources. Such electronic items as vacuum-cleaner, washing machine, microwave, dish washer, blender and some others have made my mum’s life easier. So I’m sure that new technologies are for good. In conclusion, I’d like to say, that technological progress continues and it moves rather fast. Thus, I think that soon we will live in ‘smart’ houses with robots doing all housework instead of us.

Эссе на английском языке по теме The English Language.

It won’t be an exaggeration to say that English is the most important language in the world. Nearly half of the world population speaks English. Some of the largest countries in the world are English-speaking. Among them the USA, Canada, Australia and Great Britain. By its origin English belongs to Germanic languages of the Indo-European family. Millions of people in the world use English as their native language, and millions use it as a second language. Almost all countries in the world have an English language subject at schools and universities. English has become an international language due to its significance in many areas, such as industry, business, finance, agriculture, and else. However, the most important use of English is in computer and Internet language. Many English words are derived from other languages, such as Latin, French, Spanish, Japanese, Russian and several others. For example, the words “family, number, school” come from Latin, the words “royal, menu, hotel” come from French, the word “siesta” is of Spanish origin, the word “judo” is Japanese, the words “tsar, borscht” are Russian. There are also some new words, connected with innovative technology. For example,” Internet, e-mail, text message, modern” and others. Learning English has many advantages. Firstly, it’s good to know at least one foreign language. Secondly, the English language is rather comprehensive and melodic. And, finally, it gives an opportunity to travel and communicate with people of different nationalities, and be surely understood.

Business

Business is an organization which involves the trade of goods and services. Every day thousands of people start their own business. To be successful in business one should have special character traits, for example, to be hard-working, clever, energetic and even adventurous. If a person wishes to launch a new business he or she has to take some preparatory steps. The first one is the selection of a legal form. Different countries have different laws about legal types of businesses. Usually they are a limited liability company, a partnership and a sole proprietor. These forms of business slightly differ. The limited liability company is a legal entity. In case of a bankruptcy it has to reimburse its debts with all its assets. Sole proprietors or partners do not form a legal entity. In case of their bankruptcy they reimburse the debts not only with their assets but also with their own belongings. It includes houses, cars, money, etc. That’s why the majority of businessmen prefer to set up the limited liability companies. The second step is the preparation of certain documents. The third step includes initial investments and the appointment of a director. Every new business has to be registered with the official company register. Business should mainly bring profit. However, the founders sometimes don’t have enough experience and make many mistakes. This leads to losses instead of profit. All financial information of the company can be kept in the financial reports. There are a lot of reports submitted annually, semi-annually and quarterly. Every government requires detailed information on the company’s performance and collects taxes. That’s why financial reports are important. In conclusion, I’d like to add that every business is not an easy activity. Thus, the knowledge of basic economic principles is vital for people who want to set up a business.
